The Bricklane Gazette aims to make local history inviting without making it up. We distinguish documented information from interpretation, correct errors openly, and keep editorial decisions separate from commercial arrangements.
Accuracy and sources
We check factual claims against reliable records and clearly describe what a source can establish. When discussing a building or place, we avoid presenting a plausible explanation as settled fact. Dates, names, and attributions deserve particular care; if evidence is incomplete or accounts conflict, the uncertainty belongs in the text.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for relevance to readers and the publication’s subject. A partner, advertiser, or contributor does not receive control over independent coverage. We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable editorial treatment.
Corrections
If a reader spots a factual error, they can use the Contact page to identify the passage and share the correction or supporting source. We review the information and amend material when warranted. Significant corrections should be made clear to readers rather than quietly obscured.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid placements and collaborative material are identified clearly where they appear, so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, we label the illustration accordingly and do not present it as documentary evidence.
